Rodeo Drive Toasts Legendary Costumer Catherine Martin

• February 28, 2014 • News

Rodeo Drive’s Walk of Style is to fashion as Hollywood Blvd’s Walk of Fame is to Tinseltown: A light-hearted accolade of lifetime achievement accompanied with a fancy photo op-heavy awards ceremony, and potentially sans the $30K price tag. The latest to score a sparkling bronze square of sidewalk is costume and set designer Catherine Martin, whose name will be immortalized on the famed shopping stretch alongside fashion legends like Manolo Blahnik, Giorgio Armani, Gianni and Donatella Versace and a handful of other non-Italian heavy hitters.

A regular collaborator with director (and beau) Baz Luhrmann, the Aussie design mastermind has already scored a host of trophies under her stylish belt, including an Oscar for her work on Moulin Rouge. Recently, Martin joined forces with designer Miuccia Prada to create the bedazzled flapper dresses in her hubs’ latest fashionable flick, The Great Gatsby—for which she also scored two Academy Awards nominations. The costume designer will be toasted officially during a fashion folk-filled (and expectedly very star-studded) affair at the historic Greystone Mansion on February 28th.
